A Bounty of Food Share Options

This year there is no shortage of food share options available to Teton Valley residents. Currently, three companies are offering up goods to fill your fridge and pantry this summer.

Cosmic Apple Gardens, based in Victor, is entering its 21st year with its summer vegetable CSA program. For sixteen weeks, beginning in June, you can receive a share of five to 15 seasonal items per week. A full share tends to provide enough weekly vegetables for a household of two to four people, while a half share is adequate for one or two people. In addition to your vegetable share, for an added cost, registrants may elect to add on a Lark’s Meadow Cheese Share or 460 Bread Share.

At time of sign up, shareholders must select a day and time for their weekly pick up. Currently available are Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m. at Owen Bircher Park in Wilson, 250 E. Broadway in Jackson, or at Cosmic Apple Gardens in Victor. Failure to pick up your share at the designated place and time will result in a forfeiture of that week’s share. Share prices currently run at $575 for a full share and $405 for a half share. A baguette share can be added for an additional $60, a loaf of bread per week for $100, or two loaves per week for $180.

A sign-up sheet can be found here: http://www.cosmicapple.com/uploads/1/7/9/9/17994337/2017_sign_up_sold_out_tues..pdf and submitted to Cosmic Apple Gardens.

Sam Simma

Raised in the land of casseroles and deep fried cheese curds, Sam Simma left rural Wisconsin for the mountains of Wyoming in summer 2012. Her appetite for adventure is the only thing that rivals her passion for food. She has always used writing to document and critique her travel and dining experiences. Her warmest memories among family and friends have been associated with the food that was at the center of the occasion. From staging cooking shows with siblings to perfecting turtle brownies with her dad, today Sam enjoys connecting people over food by hosting cookie decorating parties, wine pairing nights, and Midwest-inspired potlucks. A dessert fanatic, she has come to impress friends and family with key lime pies, Oreo bon bons, and Snickers ice cream cakes that are far simpler than they could ever imagine. Shhh! Don’t tell.
