Here in Jackson, we’re blessed with pizzas a plenty when it comes to choosing your favorite slice. Pizza isn’t just dough, sauce, and cheese though; it’s the toppings that make it so much more. Today, we’re filling you in on pizza varieties that are packing vegetables into every bite. Pepperoni takes a back seat to the most unique meat-free pizza options around town.
Calico
Ever tried beets on a pizza? Neither had we, until we tried Calico’s Beet-Zaa. The garlic sauce base is topped with golden beets, pine nuts, roasted red pepper aioli, fresh tomatoes, and arugula.
Cutty’s
While the Cutty’s menu boasts numerous veggie options, our two top picks, among their specialty pizza flavors are: The Popeye and Malaka’s. The Popeye is a white pizza with spinach, black olives, and feta. Meanwhile, the Malaka pizza is topped with spinach, roasted red peppers, and feta.
Dornan’s
Dornan’s names its specialty pizzas for the peaks surrounding Jackson Hole. These pizzas can be ordered on thin or regular crust. The Mount Wister pizza is a pizza with marinara sauce, Roma tomatoes, mushrooms, black olives, artichoke hearts, and red onion.
Il Villaggio Osteria
Osteria boasts six meat-free pies on their menu. The Carciofi e Brie is topped with artichoke, brie, apple, and pine nuts. The Vegetariano also caught our attention: a pie topped with scallion, arugula, eggplant, mushroom, peppers, and pulled mozzarella.
Pizza Artisan
Pizza Artisan serves up 12 inch, Neapolitan inspired pizzas. These pizzas are divided on the menu by base, including nine tomato based pizzas, four olive oil and herb based pizzas, and one pesto pizza. On a tomato base, we were intrigued by a pizza topped with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, black olives, artichokes, and mozzarella. Of the white pizzas, there is an option that is topped with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula, truffle oil, provolone, mozzarella, Romano, and Parmesan cheese.
Pinky G’s
Most of the pies at Pinky G’s pizzeria are teeming with meat; however, the Greek pizza is an option that is topped with Roma tomatoes, red onion, feta, and black olives.
Pizzeria Caldera
Pizzeria Caldera is dishing up Neapolitan-style pies teeming with unique topping choices. Of their vegetarian options, the Milodon caught our attention. This pie is topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, spinach, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and roasted garlic.
Snake River Brewing
Snake River Brewing Company’s California pizza is like a salad, but on a thin crust of cheese. Only the most practiced pizza consumer will manage to keep all the artichokes, heirloom tomatoes, pistachios, avocado, goat cheese, and greens in place as they take a bite!
Trio
Although we can’t get enough of Trio’s Cassina pizza, named for its chef de cuisine, the garden pizza is a lighter option. This pizza is topped with charred scallion pesto, shaved heirloom potatoes, pickled shallots and radishes, lemon ricotta, and Parmigiana Reggiano.
